A new chair for Artifort. Sounds simple, is not. I had many different designs which I threw out because I turned to dislike them or made it too difficult to myself. I went from hammock to multiple-seating chair, from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 legs to a hanging chair and from a car chair back to a hammock. It was a bumpy ride, but I figured it out.

IrisI soon decided to go for IRIS as the name for my chair. Obviously because Iris gave me the idea, but also because the chair turned out to look like an iris quite a lot. This would appeal to the audience as well because it subconsciously speaks to the imagination since it's a natural form they recognise. There are different options for this chair. The chair could be finished with just one thread to the middle and back, but it could also include fabric woven in between. This could be leftover fabric from the other chairs which reduces Artifort's waste as well.

MaterialThe chair would be made out of a metal frame with either 4 metal legs or 4 chains going up attached to the ceiling. It will have one large ring with a diameter of 75 cm. The inner circle would be just away from the middle to create one higher side so that the back is supported better. Once the client sits down, the inner ring sinks down a little, making the chair feel flexible but strong. The thread that keeps the inner circle inside is made of strong fabric instead of just a rope. This gives the chair a more decent look.
