Urban ALPHABET
Surrounding awareness | Photography | Creativity
This project could have been extremely time consuming. Surprisingly, it wasn't. The idea was to find the entire alphabet in your normal surroundings and this turned out to be relatively simple. Or at least, most of them were. For example the L, the F, the U, the V, the X and most of all the Y are all around us (seriously, the Y became extremely annoying since it was literally hiding around every corner!). Others were a burden to be honest. Mostly the K and R were difficult.
I like some letters more than others. For example the X. If you take a close look, there are actually 4 X's in the image if you count the intersections between shadow and scissors.
I despised the R. I was looking for a capital R but ended up with a regular small r which I found very annoying. Like I disappointed the letter.
Something I do like is that one letter was found in Bath, England, another in Strasbourg, France, one more in London, England, one on the border of Austria and Switzerland and one in Oberhausen, Germany. Also, three of the letters originate from my training hall for gymnastics (and one in my crutch as a result from gymnastics...).
Take a look at the left image below to see the original pictures. If you have difficulty discovering the letter in the image, take a look on the right and view the highlighted parts.
